Apple is rumoured to be hard at work on the successor to its hugely successful iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The next Apple smartphone, which will be launched in the UK on September 18th – a fact revealed by the recent catastrophic Vodafone leak, boasts some significant updates to the
camera.
Code from the latest developer preview of iOS 9 reveals support for a front-facing LED flash and slow-motion video.
Developer Hamza Sood first reported the changes in the code.
Apple has also added support for a FaceTime camera with 1080p video capture, Mr Sood adds.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus currently only have 720p HD front-facing cameras.
Apple touted a number of improvements to the front camera in the iPhone 6, last September
Other additions in iOS 9 reportedly include the ability to take a panorama from the selfie camera.
Apple currently reserves the panorama, slow-motion and full HD capture for its eight-megapixel rear facing camera.
However, the Cupertino company is widely believed to be looking at upgrading its primary camera from eight-megapixels to 12MP in the next version of the iPhone.
The increased popularity of selfies and accessories like the Selfie Stick could provide an explanation for the changes to the front facing camera.
The addition of a front flash and selfie panoramas could provide many customers with a more compelling reason to upgrade, come September.
Apple unveiled some of the new additions coming to iPhones in iOS 9 during its recent developer conference, WWDC.
iOS 9 will reportedly add up to FOUR hours battery life to your existing handsets.
